The Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has been sentenced this Friday to six years in prison for an alleged aggravated rape of a 20-year-old girl in the French capital, Paris, after a trial that has been carried out in a French criminal court.
The lawyer Jean-Christophe Muller of the criminal court of first instance in Paris recommended a seven-year sentence on the eve against the singer, 37, who was accused of raping and physically assaulting Laura P., 20, in October 2016 in a luxurious hotel in the capital.
The French Justice has issued an “immediate” arrest warrant against the singer, who met the young woman in a nightclub after giving a concert in Paris, as reported by the Moroccan newspaper ‘Le Matin’.
King Mohamed VI of Morocco announced in 2016 that he would pay for the defense of the singer, who has affirmed during the trial that the sexual relations were consensual, alleging details of the night, such as that during his taxi trip to the hotel the plaintiff grabbed him by the hand and flirted with him in the room.
Lamjared also has other, very similar rape charges against him. In particular, he must be tried before a criminal court accused of having raped a young woman in 2018 after meeting her in a nightclub in the coastal city of Saint-Tropez, in the department of Var.
