The computer innovations of this year are going to arrive with a dropper during the next months. With the new processors from Intel and AMD already presented and the market going through a moment that is giving chills to more than one company, it only remains to commit to the launch of revisions or derivatives of previously announced products. This is not to say that these new proposals are without interest. This is what happens with the latest monitor from Asus.

The new Strix XG27AQMR is a renewal of the already available XG27AQM, a 27-inch screen that stood out for its refresh rate (270 Hz with overclocking). The new model looks a bit further, as its 2560 x 1440 pixel WQHD IPS panel (resolution unchanged from its predecessor) now hits a native 300Hz, which is a barrier that very few monitors can overcome.

It also has support for the DisplayHDR 600 standard (average brightness is 350 nits), which explains the FreeSync Premium Pro certificate in addition to the typical G-Sync Compatible. For its part, the response time is estimated at 1 ms. It is a bit more than the previous model, since officially the XG27AQM has a GTG value of 0.5 ms.

The rest of the technical sheet does not hold many surprises. There are two HDMI 2.0 connectors, a DisplayPort 1.4, two USB-A, and a headphone jack. As he astutely points out computer basethe bandwidth of the HDMI 2.0 standard is insufficient to move 2560 × 1440 pixels at 300 Hz, so gamers who want to get the most out of it must necessarily use the DisplayPort port.

Asus has not communicated the price or the launch date, although the Strix XG27AQM, with a 270 Hz screen, can be found for around 1,000-1,100 euros. Its availability is however very limited, which could point to an almost immediate replacement.
