The Israeli Army has denounced at dawn this Thursday the launch of six projectiles from the Gaza Strip, after the previous day at least eleven people were killed and more than one hundred were injured during an Israeli raid on the West Bank city of Nablus.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that five rockets have been intercepted by its ‘Iron Dome’ anti-aircraft system, while one of them would have hit an open area without causing damage.
The IDF has not provided further details, so it is unknown if there has been damage or casualties as a result of the missile launch.
Hours before, the anti-aircraft alarms sounded in the south of Israel, in the cities of Ashkelon and Sderot, as the Army has indicated through its Twitter profile.
Israeli forces, allegedly looking for members of a cell linked to the death of a soldier in October 2022, surrounded a house on Wednesday morning to make new arrests that sparked clashes that claimed the lives of at least a dozen Palestinians.
The spokesman for the Palestinian Authority presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, later blamed “the occupation forces” for committing new abuses and has called for help from the international community. “You must act immediately to stop Israeli crimes against our people,” he urged, in a statement in which he also called for more “pressure” from the United States.
For his part, a person in charge of the armed wing of Hamas, Abu Obeida, warned that he was observing the actions of the “enemy” from Gaza: “Our patience is running out.” Islamic Jihad had also warned that “the blood of the Nablus martyrs has not been spilled in vain,” according to the Haaretz newspaper.
