Indigenous people confronted the police and entered the Medellín City Hall

It was around 10:45 in the morning this Wednesday when hundreds of indigenous people from Chocó confronted the police who were in the place. In videos the moment was recorded in which, with sticks, sThey confront uniformed men who were guarding the entrance to the Mayor’s Office.

“They do not fulfill anything, we held a meeting for aid and rights and we came to enforce our rights. We come with the whole family because we are suffering and the Medellín Mayor’s Office does not comply or collaborate with anythingRodrigo Vitucay Tequia, governor of the displaced indigenous community, told EL TIEMPO live.

There are windows and the structure of the mayor’s office that were broken in the middle of this protest. Authorities seek to evacuate the building for safety.

Daniel Quintero, mayor of Medellín, spoke about the fact. “There is a protest to which I will not give in: an indigenous community (they know I respect them) asks me to let them use their children to ask for money, work, dance for foreigners until late at night.
