( Spanish) –– At least 40 people have died and hundreds more left homeless, after heavy rains in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, triggered landslides in several coastal cities in the southeast of the country, during the carnival festivities. The figures were provided by the Sao Paulo state government.
This Sunday, the authorities confirmed 36 deaths, 228 homeless and another 338 on the streets. At that time, the report indicated that more than 130 teams, with the support of 23 vehicles and 7 aircraft, are engaged in the actions that are concentrated in both regions.
