ACS, through its US subsidiary Flatiron, has been awarded two new highway contracts valued at 373 million dollars (350 million euros) in North Carolina, as reported by Flatiron in a statement.
The first is related to the rehabilitation and expansion of lanes on the I-95 highway to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and make the road more resistant to flooding, for 247 million dollars (232 million euros).
Scheduled for completion in 2026, this new project will double the highway’s width to four lanes in each direction near Lumberton, replace two bridges and build a new one.
On the other hand, it will widen the road between Winston and Salem by 2.4 kilometers between routes 311 and I-40, including five new bridges and the rehabilitation of the three existing ones, for 126 million dollars (118 million euros).
Both projects have been awarded by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), an entity with which Flatiron has already contracted works for more than 1,800 million dollars (1,690 million euros) in the last six years.
