The Minister of Environment, Urban Planning and Climate Change in Turkey, Murat Kurum, has confirmed a total of 84,726 buildings affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria on January 6, all while the Government begins to plan the construction of new houses for all the people who have lost their homes after the earthquake.
According to the Turkish newspaper ‘Daily Sabah’, Kurum has stated in an emergency center in the province of Adana that the ministry has so far examined a total of 684,000 buildings, of which 84,726 are completely collapsed, in critical condition. or need immediate demolition.
In addition, the head of Urbanism has added that more than 7,300 troops have been deployed to examine the situation, and that only in the province of Adana there are 148 buildings in this state, while he has also urged the population to stay away from homes due to danger of collapse due to the desire to want to recover their belongings.
Previously, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated this week that construction work will begin on 30,000 houses at the beginning of March.
“Our objective is to complete the construction of safe and high-quality buildings in one year that solve the housing need in the entire earthquake zone,” said the president after the cabinet meeting held at the coordination center of the Management Authority of Disasters and Emergencies (AFAD).
On the other hand, the Turkish authorities have not yet terminated the search for survivors, which continue twelve days later.
The Turkish authorities have raised the death toll to more than 38,200 due to the earthquakes registered on February 6 in the south of the country, near the border with Syria, a country in which about 3,800 people have died, according to the official figures.
