At least 53 dead after an attack attributed to Islamic State in the Syrian province of Homs

17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 53 people have been killed this Friday in an attack attributed to Islamic State southeast of the city of Al Sujna, which was the last major town under the control of the terrorist group in the province of Homs, in Syria.

The director of the General Authority of the Palmyra National Hospital, Walid Odé, has confirmed that the bodies of 53 people who were collecting truffles in an area near Dabayat have reached his facilities, the state news agency SANA reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an independent body based in London and a whistleblower in Syria, had previously said that 46 people had died as a result of the attack, carried out by Islamic State.
