The Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Mishustin, signed an order this Friday to suspend an agreement signed in 2001 with the Czech Republic by which a Czech Consulate General remained open in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.
According to the document, Mishustin has ordered the Russian Foreign Ministry to inform the Czech party about this decision, although a spokesman for the Czech Foreign Ministry, Daniel Drake, has denied having received such notice, as reported by ‘Ceske Noviny’ .
This comes after the Czech Republic decided, for security reasons, to close its consulate in the city before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Prague also suspended activities at its St. Petersburg consulate.
Subsequently, it reported that it would reduce the number of Russian diplomats in the Czech Republic while suspending the issuance of visas to Russian citizens and revoking work permits at the Russian consulates in the Czech cities Karlovy Vary and Brno, according to the news agency. news Interfax.
