ECLAC’s Latin American School of Development Studies opened the application period for its 2023 program on the economies of the region

The Latin American School of Development Studies (ELADES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) began the application period for the twenty-fourth edition of its Program of Studies on Development Policies for Latin America and the Caribbean, which will take place between July 13 and September 1, 2023 at the headquarters of the Commission in Santiago de Chile.

The applications They are online and will be open between February 15 and April 9, 2023. The list of selected people will be communicated by email and published on the ELADES website on April 14. Priority will be given to students who are studying or have recently completed postgraduate studies, especially in the disciplines of economics, social sciences and humanities.

The Program is structured in six modules: introduction to development; sustainable development; political development; economic development; social development, and ethics of development. Classes will take place from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with students being able to stay the rest of the day at the HernĂ¡n Santa Cruz Library to work on their research.

Registration and course are exempt from payment. The classes, mostly in Spanish, are taught both by researchers who are part of the ECLAC staff and by prestigious professors from various universities in Latin America and the Caribbean and the world.

ELADES-CEPAL annually summons young researchers, graduates and/or postgraduates interested in studying the Latin American development process. More than 600 students, from 35 countries and from different universities around the world, have gone through the Program (formerly the Summer School) since its creation in the year 2000.

It is a plural space for thought that promotes discussion, reflection, generation and exchange of ideas on Latin American development, based on the specialized contributions of the different divisions of ECLAC and advances in the frontier of academic research.
