The Minister of Foreign Relations of Costa Rica, Arnoldo André, has kept an intense agenda of meetings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in which he has highlighted the legal security and social stability of Costa Rica, which make it an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The visit to this nation, with more than 10 million inhabitants and made up of seven emirates united by a federal government, is part of Foreign Minister André’s tour of the Middle East.
This Tuesday the itinerary had as one of its strong points the meeting with Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser and presidential adviser.
Gargash promoted for many years to strengthen the foreign relations of his country and currently the UAE Diplomatic Academy bears his name.
Due to his position in the Emirati government, he was in charge of receiving the letter sent by Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves to the President of the UAE, HE Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
In the letter, the president sent his message of support for the organization of COP28 to be held in Dubai in November and thanked the visit made last December by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.

He also stressed that the renovation project of the Liberia international airport “is of the utmost importance” for Costa Rica, for which he requested support so that it can materialize soon.
Likewise, he reiterated the interest in a rapprochement between the two countries on issues of tourism, agribusiness and high technology, among others.
As part of this rapprochement, the foreign minister was received in audience, at the Royal Court of the emirate of Ajman, by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid al Nuaimi, crown prince and president of the Executive Council (Government Council) of the emirate.
Together with the ambassador to the UAE, Francisco Chacón, the offer was maintained to promote the exchange of good practices in various areas, such as tourism and strengthening the investment climate.
Investment in Costa Rica
In his appointments, the foreign minister stressed that, in times of economic recovery, job creation and the attraction of new companies on Costa Rican soil are priorities for the Chaves Robles Administration.
He did so in meetings, first with the president of the Federal National Council (Parliament), Saqr Ghobash, in the framework of the World Government Summit, an event attended by more than 20 heads of state and some 250 ministers from around the world, and then with Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, executive president of the Department of Government Relations of the emirate of Sharjah.
With Al Qasimi, André spoke about Ocean diplomacy, actions in favor of the climate and the importance of exchange between Costa Rica and the UAE.
For his part, the sheikh expressed interest in collaborations in waste management and the blue economy that focuses on the role of the seas as an economic source but also on the importance of managing their resources efficiently, restoring ecosystems and introducing technology that allow sustainable use.
“Costa Rica and the United Arab Emirates have the ability to exchange good practices and jointly design creative solutions to current challenges,” said Minister André.
Within the framework of this tour, the visit to Costa Rica, next March, of Omar Al Olama, Minister of Artificial Intelligence, who would be at the headquarters of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Worship, and of Science and Technology, as well as as in CINDE, in the University of Costa Rica, the Technological Institute of Costa Rica and in the Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (CAMTIC).
