The researchers of Kaspersky have found numerous examples of sites offering downloads of Hogwarts Legacy for PC, despite the fact that the video game has not yet been released. However, in their attempt to obtain it, players have actually downloaded malware or unwanted software onto their device. The programs spread range from adware, which launches ads on the user’s screen; even Trojans, which silently collect your information.

How to avoid scams

• Buy and download games only on official sites. Don’t believe every offer to get an expensive new video game as a gift: most of the time it’s a scam.
• Always protect your accounts with two-factor authentication. For those that do not have this option, check the security settings.
• Use secure passwords and a unique one for each account. Thus, even if some of your profiles are stolen, the rest will not go with it. It is safer not to use the same password for online games as for other services.
