Also, the platform requires a primary location to be configured to determine the place where the series and movies will be viewed on a regular basis, since the accounts are designed for be shared between people who live together with the account holder. This novelty, which runs until February 21, places the television as the main core through which to manage the platform.
Once the location is set up, Netflix will check that the profiles are being used in the same household through the WiFi connectionto which users will have to connect at least once every 31 days to prove that they are cohabitants and continue to maintain access to their profile.
SET UP A PRIMARY LOCATION
In this sense, from the platform provide some explanations about how to set primary account location. For this, it is required sign in on a TV connected to the WiFi network of the location in question. Once inside the main Netflix screen, the applications menu has to be displayed by pressing ‘left’.
After opening the menu, the user must click on ‘Get Help’ and ‘Manage Home Location’. Then you have to choose between ‘Configuration by mail’ or ‘Configure by SMS’; andn both options are will send a verification link to the email address or phone number associated with the account. Said link will have a validity of 15 minutes.
By clicking on the verification link, the user will have to click on ‘Review request’ and later, in ‘Set primary location’. Once you get here, a confirmation window will appear on the TV screen and will send the user who owns the account a confirmation email. After these steps, the user will be able to continue watching Netflix by clicking ‘Continue to Netflix’.
It is important to mention that if no primary location is configured Netflix will configure it by itself based on IP address, device identifiers and account activity. Hence, to avoid problems, it is convenient that the users pre-configure the location they consider best.
However, if Netflix is not used on a TVthe user “you don’t have to configure no main location for your account,” the company qualifies.
ADD EXTRA SUBSCRIBERS
On the other hand, regarding how to create a sub account of an extra subscriberthe company details in its help Centerthat the user who owns the subscription must “buy an additional space for members”and after that you will have to send an invitation to the additional member so that they can set up their own account, which will be linked to the main subscription.
To buy an extra space, the user must click on ‘Buy an extra subscriber pass’ in the ‘Extra subscribers’ section within the ‘Account’ tab. After that, a account settings pagein which Netflix reports the price of this additional user (5.99 euros per month) and adds that this profile will have its own account and password, must be over 18 years of age and be in the same country as the main account.
Later, after clicking on ‘Following’a new screen will appear in which detail the updated prices counting the extra subscriber rate, the usual subscription rate and the total, emphasizing the date of the new billing. After reading this information, the user must click on ‘Start extra subscriber’.
Thus, a confirmation that an extra subscriber has been added and the user will be asked to which person do you want to invite or if, on the contrary, a new or an existing profile will be used for this extra subscription.
