Loved and hated by many, there is no doubt that RGB lighting is already a daily occurrence in the PC world. Whether it’s a desktop, laptop, or peripheral of any kind, anything that carries the “gaming” tagline these days is rare without configurable multicolor lighting systems.
Each motherboard manufacturer has their own RGB or ARGB lighting synchronization system, and peripheral or case manufacturers also have drivers and software for this purpose. However, a powerful competitor could soon emerge: Microsoft.
The Redmond company is working on integrating a native RGB lighting control system into Windows 11, in such a way that it would not be necessary to use additional programs, many of them heavy or with components of all kinds.
As they have discovered in windowsCentral, through the customization options of Windows 11 in its latest Previews through a hidden instruction, the Lighting tab has been enabled (illumination) in which devices such as gaming keyboards are detected. From what can be seen in the screenshots, it is possible to change the brightness, lighting effects, colors, speed and even synchronize with the color of the taskbar and menus that we have configured in the operating system.
It is expected that Microsoft will refine this functionality and add more functions, something that, in addition to being able to do away with some current third-party solutions, could allow users full customization of their RGB systems, associating them with all kinds of actions, notifications or system applications.
