It may be that your son or daughter, a minor, has received an iPhone as a gift or you want them to keep the one you had before, so you don’t have to spend money to buy them a new one.
Well, before they have it in their hands you should make certain configurations that will serve to protect them and so that you are much calmer.
Everything that you will be able to read below is important to do, since it will be the way in which, not only your child has an ID of Manzanasomething that is essential, but that it is covered by the terminal itself so that everything adapts to its age.
Let’s see what these settings will be for your phone, but that we can have at hand from our own iPhone.
Index of contents:
Create an Apple ID for a child
The first thing to do is create a Apple ID for the childsince it is the only way we have to work with the iPhone as you well know.
It is important that you have your own personalsince if we put any of ours you will have access to what we have, both content and payment systems and others.
In Spain, children under 14 cannot create an Apple ID, but we as parents or legal guardians can do it. In addition, we are going to manage it from our own iPhone with iOS 16 as follows:
- We are going to Settings and we played on our behalf.
- Then click on the section In family and then in add member (symbol top right).
- we click Create a child account and then in Continue.
- Now we follow the instructions. Be careful to put the age correctly, since it cannot be changed later.
- For the child’s Apple ID, we may use their email address (if any), the address suggested by @icloud.com, or their Game Center nickname.
Set Up Family
En Familia is a faculty in which we can share different Apple services with up to six family members. These services can be movies, music, apps, books, an iCloud storage plan and different subscriptions without having to use the same ID.
We must add the child to En Familia, to be able to control privacy issues and be able to share what you see that will need all the options that we have mentioned before.
Parental control
A very interesting application that the iPhone has is Use timewhich allows us to limit or block apps, websites and certain functions of the child’s device.
To activate it we must do the following:
- We enter the Settings of the iPhone and let’s Use time.
- Then we click on Continue in we are going to This is the boy’s iPhonefollowing the instructions until you reach parent codeat which time we must enter the code that we were asked for when we created the child’s Apple ID.
- Click on Content and privacy restrictionswe enter the code and activate Content and privacy.
Do not allow App Store purchases
Once we have activated it, it is the moment in which we can use it for various procedures related to the child’s iPhone.
For example, we may prevent you from making purchases on the App Store. For that we must do the following:
- We are going to Settings and click on Use time.
- we play in restrictions and enter your access code.
- We activate the restrictions and click on iTunes and App Store purchases.
- We select what we want to block and click on Do not allow.
Block apps and services
Another thing we can do is block apps and services that we think are not good for them.
In this case, the steps to follow are these:
- We came in Settings and we played on Use time.
- we give back in restrictions and enter the access code.
- We activate the restrictions and click on allowed apps.
- Now we block the apps and system services that we want just by deactivating them.
Restrict explicit content
We may restrict all types of explicit content to protect the child. This can affect both music, television shows, series, movies or apps.
We are going to do it this way:
- we return to Use time As we have already told you before, we enter restrictions and enter the code.
- After that we select content restrictions.
- Now we must click on the different categories and choose the minimum age for each of them.
Adult website blocking
Another interesting configuration is to block websites that are for adults and that they should not see.
The steps are the following:
- In Use timewe are going to restrictions and put the code.
- After that we click on Web content.
- Here we are going to select Limit access to adult websites. when active most of these websites will be blocked automatically, although we can add some if we want and we can even select exceptions.
- If instead of the above we click on Only allowed websiteswe will be able to access the websites that you can enter, discarding all the others.
Other interesting options
We can also manage other types of options that can not only help the child, but we can even be calmer ourselves.
We will be able to limit the time of use of the iPhone apps, know where you are at all times or control who can communicate with said phone.
The steps to get each of these faculties are as follows.
Time of use of the apps
- We came in Use time.
- We are going to App usage limits.
- we play in add limit.
- Now we can select by categories or by each app. Be that as it may, after doing so, click on Following.
- At this time is when we must choose what is the maximum time for each one per day.
contact control
- We are going to Use time.
- we select communication limits.
- Now During idle time.
- At this time mark the contacts with whom you can communicate.
Search always active
This is an option that you must activate on your child’s iPhone, otherwise there is no way to do it remotely.
We must do the following:
- we press Settings > Name > Search.
- we activate Share my location.
- Click on Search my Iphone.
- Next we activate Search my Iphone.
- So that the device can be seen even when disconnected, we must also activate the Search Network, as well as send last location.
With everything you have just read, you will be able to protect the child on his iPhone as much as possible.
All these configurations are perfect so that the little ones in the house can use the iPhone with iOS 16 without the slightest problem.
