Up to 150,000 homes without electricity after a new attack on energy infrastructure in Ukraine

11 Feb. () –

The military governor of Kharkov, Oleh Synehubov, confirmed this Friday a new Moscow attack against energy infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, which has caused power cuts in up to 150,000 homes and injured eight people.

One day after President Volodimir Zelensky’s visit to Brussels and in the midst of negotiations for the shipment of weapons, Moscow has carried out a new attack with drones and missiles against energy infrastructure in the Kharkov region, in eastern Ukraine.

As Synehubov has stated through Telegram, at least eight people have been injured after the attack, which were repairing the damage caused by a previous attack. All of them have been hospitalized, two of whom are in serious condition.

In addition, the Ukrainian authorities have reported new bombardments in other towns in the same region throughout the day, including Kupiansk and Vovchansk, where they have reported another injured person.

For his part, the secretary of the City Council of the Zaporizhia region, Anatoliy Kurtev, has also confirmed a “massive attack” in the region, in the southeast of the country, where 17 Russian projectiles have been reported against specific targets in the city, also in energy infrastructures.

Kurtev has described it through a message on Telegram as “the largest number since the beginning of the invasion” as updates on the damage and casualties continue.

At this moment, the hot front of the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues in the east of the country, all this while after Zelensky’s second departure from Ukraine since the start of the war.

The Ukrainian president visited the European Parliament on Thursday, where he spoke in an extraordinary plenary session, before participating in person at the summit of heads of state and government of the European Union.

On the verge of the first anniversary of the invasion, the EU wants to reinforce its message of support for Kiev, which was already symbolically reflected last week, when the senior staff from Brussels, including Von der Leyen and Michel, traveled to the country at war .
