US authorities have warned that the Chinese spy balloon shot down over US soil is part of a larger military surveillance “fleet” that spans the globe.
Sources close to the matter have indicated in statements to various media outlets that this military fleet is made up of balloons of different shapes and sizes deployed on five continents.
His words come as work progresses off the South Carolina coast to recover the remains of the Chinese balloon that was shot down on Saturday by a jet fighter despite the fact that the government has insisted that it did not pose a threat to the territory and its population.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken explained that the United States “has already shared information about the case with dozens of countries around the world because the United States is not the only target of the program that has violated the sovereignty of countries in the five continents”.
This Thursday, the Japanese authorities have confirmed the flight of this type of balloon in their airspace and even in waters to the southwest of the Kyushu region. Tokyo has proceeded to exchange this type of information, as reported by Hirokazu Matsuno, government spokesman.
“We are going to continue monitoring the situation to gather information about it,” he asserted. For his part, a Pentagon spokesman, Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, has indicated in statements to the FBI that they are working to catalog the remains and send them ashore for examination.
Meanwhile, the president, Joe Biden, insists that he “does not seek a conflict with China” despite the tension caused by the case. “We fully commit with China, but we are not looking for a conflict,” he clarified.
