Disney announces new movies "toy story" and "Frozen" which are in production

() — Disney won’t be letting go of the award-winning “Frozen” and “Toy Story” franchises any time soon.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the company’s earnings call on Wednesday that there are plans to produce additional sequels to both hit franchises.

“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re building on our unique brands and franchises,” said Iger.

The first “Frozen” movie hit theaters in 2013 to a massive reception and was followed by “Frozen 2” in 2019, which grossed more than $1.4 billion worldwide at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo.

The films, which followed the adventures of sister princesses Anna and Elsa, star Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, who voice the beloved animated characters.

The first installment of the “Toy Story” franchise was released in 1995 and became an instant classic. The just-announced sequel will follow “Toy Story 4,” which was released in theaters in 2019, and continued the box office success of the franchise by earning rave reviews and raise more than US$1 billion. Disney’s Buzz Lightyear spin-off “Lightyear” will be released in 2022.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen provide the voices behind Woody and Buzz, the two iconic characters at the center of “Toy Story.”
