( Spanish) — The serious forest fires in Chile have caused the death of at least 23 people, the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, reported this Saturday.
“Unfortunately, a deceased person has been added in the Ñuble region, adding to the 22 reported by the Minister of the Interior in the morning report,” Monsalve said.
The undersecretary added that they have the report of 979 injured people, 1,111 sheltered and 865 victims so far.
The Chilean government decreed a state of catastrophe this Friday in the Ñuble and Biobío regions due to a series of forest fires in the area.
