Preliminary reports suggest that the armed attack occurred in the vicinity of a synagogue in Neve Yaakov, in East Jerusalem. The suspect has fired from a car at a building used as a Jewish temple, killing seven people and wounding a few more.

After that, the suspect, a resident of East Jerusalem, fled to the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina, where he was neutralized by Israeli Police officers while trying to flee the place on foot.
