“We need to put data-based tools and strategies at the center of our approach to building peace and security, including counter-terrorism efforts,” he said during his speech at the ninth meeting of the Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Pact. United Nations Terrorism.
Guterres has also pointed out that it is necessary for anti-terrorist strategies to “reflect a wide range of voices” while stressing that the fight against terror “should never be used as an excuse to trample on people’s Human Rights”.
“While terrorists and criminals often pursue different agendas and strategies, both feed off crimes like drug smuggling, human trafficking, and illicit financing. Our counterterrorism responses must stay one step ahead,” Guterres said. .
