The Ukrainian authorities on Monday raised the death toll to about 20 due to a Russian attack carried out on Sunday against a residential building in the town of Chasiv Yar, located in the Donetsk region, one of the main epicenters of the conflict. .
The State Emergency Service has indicated in its account on the social network Facebook that the search and rescue teams “have identified and recovered 18 bodies from the rubble”, while another six have been rescued alive in the remains of the building.
The agency has added that so far about 138 tons of material have been removed from the site and has stressed that “work is still underway” with the deployment of 55 workers and two cranes.
The General Staff of the Army of Ukraine denounced on Saturday a wave of Russian bombardments on multiple fronts with a special incidence in Donetsk, the last disputed region of eastern Ukraine, given that neighboring Lugansk is already practically under total control of the Russian forces and their allies.
