March for Life descends on Washington

The annual March for Life descends on the National Mall in Washington on Friday.

This marks the first time the annual anti-abortion event has been held after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, a case that recognized the constitutional right to abortion.

“This year will be a grim reminder of the millions of lives lost to abortion in the last 50 years, but also a celebration of how far we have come and where we need to focus our efforts as a movement as we enter this new era in our quest. to protect life,” Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life Education and Advocacy Fund, said in a statement.

Ever since American women lost their constitutional right to abortion, states have been making their own laws about the procedure, resulting in a hodgepodge of laws. Some states have enacted near-total bans on abortion.

Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
