Jan. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army shot dead a Palestinian on Tuesday after he opened fire on a group of soldiers in the surroundings of the West Bank city of Halhul, located north of Hebron, amid a rise in tensions that has left 15 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces so far this year.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated through their account on the social network Twitter that the military “have neutralized a terrorist suspected of carrying out two armed attacks in the last 48 hours” and has pointed out that “the terrorist fired on the forces, who responded by opening fire and neutralizing him”.

Likewise, the Israeli Army has said that it considers that “the possibility that the terrorist carried out an armed attack against a civilian bus in the same town on Sunday is being analyzed”, while stressing that the incident has ended without victims among the Israeli ranks.

For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has stated on its Facebook social network account that the deceased is Hamdi Shaker Abdullah abu Daya, 40 years old. Thus, he has stressed that he died “by occupation shots at the entrance to Nabi Yunis, in the town of Halhul.”
