Jan. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least eight shipyard workers are missing after an oil tanker exploded at a shipyard on the Mae Klong river in Thailand’s Muang district on Saturday.
The explosion has been notified to the local authorities at 9.17 local time (3.17 Spanish peninsular time), after a fire started in a tanker, and has damaged numerous homes, as reported by the ‘Bangkok Post’ newspaper.
The oil tanker, with a capacity of 6,500 tons, was undergoing maintenance, so its tanks were empty.
The Department of the Navy has subsequently said that the fire is under control, while an investigation would have begun to determine the cause of the fire.
