Russia restricts access to German newspaper 'Die Welt'

July 10 () –

The Russian state Telecommunications agency, Roskomnadzor, has suspended access to the digital edition of the German newspaper ‘Die Welt’ throughout the country at the request of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office for, as has happened with other Western media, inciting national instability with its information about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Access to the site has been restricted in accordance with the rules for blocking pages that incite riots, extremism or participation in illegal mass actions,” according to the statement collected by the Russian agency TASS.

Since invading Ukraine, Russia has blocked or limited access to media such as the British network BBC, the American public international broadcaster Voice of America or the German network Deutsche Welle.
