Several users of third-party Twitter applications, such as Tweetbot, Twitterrific or Fenix, have denounced receiving no response from the platform, which has experienced a failure in the operation of the social network’s application programming interface (API).
A API is a ‘software’ that allows applications to communicate with each other and exchange data. These interfaces avoid the need to develop a specific application to add your information, but the data between one service and others can be linked.
This is how alternative clients to Twitter work like TweetBot, Twitterrific or Fenix, that integrate their own characteristics (such as synchronization or mute in the case of the first) and combine them with those already existing in the social network.

Users of these Twitter clients have denounced not being able to establish contact between the two applications due to an alleged failure in the social network’s API. due to this Authentication Error they are no longer able to access the platform and use its resources.
In the same way they have communicated the third-party applications themselves, which claim not to know the reasons for this failure. For example, as pointed out TweetBot, has contacted Twitter for more details, although he has assured that he has not received a response. “We hope that this is only a temporary failure and we will inform you as soon as we know more,” this client has communicated from his profile on the social network.
Tweetbot and other clients are experiencing problems logging in to Twitter. We’ve reached out to Twitter for more details, but haven’t heard back.

This API failure it has not affected all third-party apps on the platform now owned by Elon Musk. Just like has pointed out one of the developers of Twitterrific, the version of this application for macOS, which has a different ‘app’ identifier, “seems to still work“. The same happens with Albatross, which continues to be operational.
