Jan. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Iranian authorities have applauded this Friday the resumption of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and have ventured a reopening of the embassies of both countries in the framework of the upcoming negotiations between the parties.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hosein Amirabdolahian, has asserted that Iran “has never initiated a break in relations with any country in the Muslim world”, for which reason he has celebrated “the return of these relations to their normal course”.
Both countries held four rounds of talks last year with the aim of normalizing relations and avoiding disputes. Tehran and Riyadh severed diplomatic relations in 2016 following an attack on Saudi missions in Iran by protesters calling for a halt to the execution of Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.
