At least 17 people have died, seven have been injured and more than 70,000 have been evacuated due to the floods registered in more than a dozen provinces of the Philippines in recent days.
The National Disaster Reduction and Management Council of the Philippines (NDRRMC) has indicated in a statement that more than 452,000 people have been affected by the heavy rains, which have also left fifty homes damaged and 158 roads destroyed. In addition, they have affected more than 40 bridges, which have been rendered useless.
The bad weather conditions have also caused power cuts in dozens of cities, as well as the suspension of operations in 24 ports throughout the country.
The authorities have announced that classes have been suspended in 500 municipalities, while 110 companies have had to close temporarily.
