Russia reproaches Turkey for its support for the peace plan proposed by Zelensky

12 Jan. () –

The Russian Foreign Ministry has recriminated this Thursday the head of Turkish diplomacy, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the support shown to the peace plan outlined by the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski.

Cavusoglu assured on Tuesday that Turkey “supports the plan” of Zelensky and recognized Ankara’s conviction that the conflict in Eastern Europe will culminate when representatives of Russia and Ukraine sit at the table to negotiate.

However, the words of the Turkish minister have not gone down well in Moscow, from where the spokesperson for diplomacy, Maria Zajarova, has been contrary to Cavusoglu’s assessment, according to the TASS news agency.

“We are well aware of Turkey’s assessment of the so-called Zelensky peace plan. We cannot agree with it. Ankara’s support for this venture of the kyiv regime is unlikely to contribute to the search for optimal ways to achieve peace. in Ukraine,” he said.

The Turkish foreign minister previously stated that “Russia has said it is ready for negotiations.” “Zelensky proposed a ten-point peace plan. We, as Turkey, support this plan and continue our work,” he added.
