The National Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has warned on Tuesday that the Russian Armed Forces would be transferring units from Belarus to reinforce their positions in eastern Ukrainian territory.
“The forces of the Russian Federation, which were previously on the territory of Belarus and were undergoing training, are slowly being transferred by Russia to the east of our country to strengthen their grouping,” SBU spokesman Andrii Demchenko warned.
In this sense, the Ukrainian authorities consider that the transfer of Russian troops has the main objective of dividing kyiv’s attention, which cannot only focus on defending points such as Bakhmut and its surroundings, the scene of the confrontation, but also redouble its position in the rest from the eastern front.
“We do not notice that Russia has the forces or the means, nor the creation of an attack group that could carry out a second invasion at this time. Intelligence units do not believe it either,” Demchenko assured, ruling out for the moment a second Russian wave.
On the other hand, the SBU spokesman has detailed that the Ukrainian authorities have not detected any type of Russian or Belarusian military movement on the borders with Belarus in recent days.
However, he has insisted that “the provocation continues”, since Russia and Belarus continue to carry out joint military training “constantly”, the last in the field of aviation, reports the Ukrainian agency Ukrinform.
