SNK has announced that The King of Fighters XV (KOF XV) will receive Shingo Yabuki, the first additional character of Season 2, on January 17. That same day a “big patch that will tweak all the characters in the game” will also be available and the details of which will be known later. In addition, the company has revealed the new fighters that will soon join the game as part of the content of the second season, including Kim Kaphwan, Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd.

“Shingo is a young man who fell in love with Kyo Kusanagi’s strength and almost forced him to become his martial arts master,” SNK says of Shingo Yabuki, a character who first appeared in The King of Fighters ’97. “However, for Kyo, Shingo is his assistant and he treats him as such. Lately, Shingo has gained Kyo’s approval and seems to be progressing as a fighter, albeit slowly. His carefree attitude towards life gives him a personality that many like ”.

Below you have a trailer where you can see Shingo Yabuki in action, whose voice is still that of Takehito Koyasu.

In addition to Shingo, new characters will also arrive in KOF XV in 2023. Kim Kaphwan is scheduled to enter the scene in the spring, while Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd will join the fray over the summer. In the fall and winter, two additional characters will debut that have not yet been revealed. To get the six contenders, a Fighter Pass will be put on sale that still has no price. The existing Team Pass with two teams of three fighters each cost 29.99 euros and each team is shipped separately for 15.99 euros.

Coinciding with the start of Season 2, an update will be released to improve all characters in the game. In addition, songs from previous KOF games will be added to the KOF XV DJ Station on January 17, allowing players to change the music played in the background during their battles. More songs will be added in the future. Finally, between spring and summer the implementation of cross-play is planned so that users of PlayStation, Xbox and PC can fight each other.
