By Dr. José Sandoval-Díaz / Director of the Ñuble Study Center, Bío Bío University.-This initiative arose in 2019, under the consortium of eight universities, with the aim of developing a regional measurement instrument with broad national coverage. In our region, the surveys for the years 2019 and 2022 have been carried out by the Ñuble Studies Center of the Bío-Bío University. For this year, we selected a sample of 508 cases, distributed throughout the three provinces: Diguillín (356), Itata (99) and Punilla (53), using for this a probabilistic sampling, applied in person between 31 May and August 2, 2022 in the homes of the respondents.
Among the ten topics addressed, we analyze: i) Identity, territorial belonging and mobility, ii) Knowledge and regional representation, iii) Evaluation of the region (definition of problems and priorities), iv) Willingness to participate in the public space and in the decentralization process, v) Perception of socio-environmental conflicts, vi) Media consumption, vii) Obstacles and tools for regional development, viii) Effects of the pandemic in the region, ix) Constituent process ex) Political identification.

When the respondents were asked if they would like to move or live elsewhere, 18.3% indicated yes and 81.7% no, figures similar to 2019, reaching 18.7% and 81.3% respectively.
Among the reasons that would trigger the change of place of residence, the search for better employment and economic opportunities leads the preferences, with 39.8% in 2019 and 31.5% in 2022. In second place, although for the In 2019, both living in a pollution-free environment and feeling protected from COVID-19 were positioned as relevant reasons (each one with 13%), this changes in 2022, when living in a place with greater citizen security is highlighted. (21.7%) as another of the reasons for changing.
Another topic of global relevance, but with a local incidence, such as climate change and the intensification of extreme events that it entails (heat waves, forest fires and droughts), a worrying 69% of those surveyed consider themselves nothing or little prepared to face and/or adapt to this problem.
Finally, the survey also evaluated the level of knowledge that citizens have about their authorities, the forms of governance, evaluation of the current management and future priorities for the Ñuble region, before which we invite the community to participate in their launch on Wednesday, January 11 from 10:00 a.m. in the Prat Hall of the Regional Government.
