8 Jan. () –

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, expressed this Sunday his “absolute condemnation” of the “assault on the democratic institutions” of Brazil, with a message in which he also wanted to give “full support” to the bloc on behalf of the current president of the South American giant, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Michel recalled that Lula was elected “democratically”, in elections that were “fair and free”, contrary to what former president Jair Bolsonaro has defended during these months.

For his part, the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, has been “dismayed” by “the actions of violence and the illegal occupation” of institutions at the hands of thousands of “extremists”. “Brazilian democracy will prevail over violence and extremism”, he has sentenced.
