Razer announces a haptic headrest with surround sound and the Leviathan V2 Pro bar, which follows the user

CES wouldn’t be CES without Razer and their crazy gizmos. Every year the manufacturer of laptops and peripherals takes some kind of prototype with no other intention than to attract public attention, being able to highlight the modular desk with integrated PC of 2022, its sophisticated chair gaming with drop-down OLED display or the spectacular 2020 cockpit.

This year, however, it has wanted to be much more discreet with its proposals, which include a headrest with sound and a new audio bar with AI.

Project Carol is a head cushion that incorporates 7.1 surround sound equipment with wireless reception, promising “more direct audio” (so much so that you have the speakers just inches from your ears) and “a more immersive soundscape.” Furthermore, some kind of haptic motor is hidden under the padding, so that the sound emanating from the headrest is accompanied by vibrations.
Ultimately a kind of wireless speaker for gamers, Project Carol has an autonomy of eight hours and in theory it adjusts to any chair thanks to its fixing system using straps. A surprisingly mundane detail for Razer, especially considering that for now it’s a concept design with no known marketing intent.

Leviathan V2 Pro, a sound bar with directional audio that follows the user’s movements

For his part, Leviathan V2 Pro is a new surround sound bar that is supposed to provide high-quality sound. Not only because of the THX Spatial Audio certificate or the collaboration with Audioscenic, but also due to the fact that it incorporates an infrared camera on the front that follows the movements of the user’s head to adapt the audio in real time. Is so much technology necessary for a bar that is less than a meter from the player? We’ll leave that to the experts.

The Leviathan V2 Pro bar also incorporates a subwoofer to reinforce the bass and, like a good Razer product, it has a programmable RGB lighting system.
