The activity, led by the researcher and academic Dr. Ariel Soto Caro, covered in a first session called “Introduction to R”, what R is and how it works, the fundamentals of the language, the ecosystem for data science, basic manipulation with a focus on cleaning and working with grouped data. The above, using databases from Chile as an example.
For Dr. Soto, “the experience of this workshop was really motivating given the heterogeneity of the attendees, who were also very active during the session. Undergraduate students who want to learn R as an additional skill, in preparation for the world of work, participated; to experienced academics from our Chillán campus who see R as a serious option to implement their research questions. I sincerely hope that these workshops are of benefit, in any measure, for the UdeC community and, why not, also for the community in which we are inserted.”
The EAN expects to continue soon with the second part of the cycle of workshops called “Regression Analysis in R”, and which will cover topics such as the workflow for statistical modeling, visualization and summary of data before modeling, and the modeling of continuous variables. and discreet.
