Local authorities in Vietnam have presumed dead on Wednesday a ten-year-old boy who had been trapped since Saturday in a 35-meter-deep concrete pit in the southern province of Dong Thap, in the Mekong River delta region.
The vice president of the provincial People’s Committee, Doan Tan Buu, has assured at a press conference that the health experts who have followed the case have concluded that the minor has died due to the injuries, as well as the lack of oxygen inside the well, according to has picked up the news portal Vietnam News.
The rescue forces have not been able to arrive in time to get Thai Ly Hao Nam out of the hole into which he fell, approximately 25 centimeters in diameter. Tan Buu previously indicated that the boy’s survival prognosis was low.
The minor was collecting scrap metal near a bridge under construction together with three friends in the Thanh Bình district. According to the hypothesis with which the authorities work, the minor tripped and fell, getting stuck in the well. Hundreds of firefighters and police continue to work, however, to reach the body with bulldozers, cranes and augers.
