Phuket’s tourism industry in Thailand has experienced a tremendous revival after being severely affected by the global pandemic, attracting more than 2.3 million visitors and generating some 127 billion baht in revenue during the first ten months of 2022.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Phuket authorities said the so-called “Phuket Sandbox” reopening model for international travelers and efforts by businesspeople to adapt and rebuild have allowed the local tourism industry to recover quickly.
Following the suspension of all theater performances for two years due to the pandemic, Siam Niramit Phuket CEO Panin Kitiparaporn said the return of visitors to the province is seen as a positive sign for provincial businesses.
