The High Representative of the European Union for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will carry out a two-day official visit to Morocco starting this Thursday, in which he will meet with the Prime Minister, Aziz Ajanuch, and the Foreign Minister, Naser Burita , among others.

The European External Action Service has indicated in a statement that Borrell “will travel to Morocco for an official visit between January 5 and 6” and has added that tomorrow he will hold meetings with Ajanuch, Burita and “other institutional interlocutors of Moroccan society and economic actors.

Likewise, he has detailed that Borrell, who is also vice president of the European Commission, will participate on Friday in Fez in a meeting with professors and students of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, where he will also deliver a speech.

“The visit will be an occasion for an in-depth discussion on the application of the EU-Morocco partnership, integrated into the perspective of the new Agenda for the Mediterranean”, pointed out the organization, which has stressed that Borrell “will address ongoing issues and will explore specific fields in which dialogue and cooperation could be strengthened.”

Lastly, he noted that “the meetings will also make it possible to address regional and international issues of common interest and of particular importance in the current difficult world context and the global impact of the Russian war against Ukraine”.
