The range of RTX 4000 graphics units for laptops will scale much more gradually than on desktop, with 4050, 4060, 4070, 4080, and 4090 GPUs, ordered from lowest to highest power. Nothing more and nothing less than five GPUs. The first three, Nvidia says, provide 80 FPS with ultra detail at 1400p resolution, while the last two seek to offer a higher gaming experience. Nvidia ensures that the RTX 4080 and 4090 for laptops will be capable of moving up to 60 FPS on three external 4K monitors, although it will have to be seen with which games and under what circumstances. It can also encode AV1 4K video at 60 FPS.
As important as the power is the improvement in efficiency. Nvidia claims that the RTX 4070 is comparable to an RTX 3080 with only a third of its power consumption, and although you probably won’t want to play a gaming laptop without having it connected to the current, this data can be interesting if you are going to use the equipment to work on the go with photo and video editing programs; a niche in which gaming laptops are displacing classic workstations.
First equipment available from February
