On the outskirts of Montevideo, his farm with a small house that only has the necessary square meters is visited by media from all over the world. He also lived there when he was completing his presidential term, between 2010 and 2015.
Before formally dedicating himself to political life, he was a guerrilla, he was part of the Tupamaros National Liberation Movement and he was imprisoned on more than one occasion for almost 15 years. In addition, he participated in a historic escape from the Punta Carretas prison, which is now a shopping center.
