Iran criticizes a defense law signed by Biden

Dec. 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Iranian authorities have criticized this Friday an annual defense policy law signed last week by US President Joe Biden, which authorizes total funds of 817,000 million dollars for the Department of Defense.

“The articles of the anti-Iran law reflect a continuation of the United States’ hostile, provocative, and interventionist beliefs and policies against the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as attempts to spread Iranophobia and exaggerate a security situation against Iran.” , has emphasized the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kanani.

Likewise, it has charged against Washington for writing, within the aforementioned law, “false statements” about the Iranian nuclear program while the US side, according to Kanani, has “violated its commitments” by abandoning the pact in August 2019.

“There is no doubt that making unsubstantiated claims about the peaceful nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran will in no way contribute to attempts to legitimize US measures and illegal unilateral sanctions (against Tehran),” it added.

The law signed by Biden, in addition to the provisions on Iran, made clear Washington’s commitment to NATO in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including an increase in aid to kyiv, as well as a new program to provide Taiwan with security assistance.
