There is no way back. Ciudadanos has split in two at the worst possible moment: when the formation entered the final stretch of its so-called “refoundation” process to rearm itself and face the crucial electoral year, while all the polls predict its disappearance. The calls for “unity” and the search for a “consensus” candidacy have been unsuccessful and to the astonishment of many, Ciudadanos will hold primaries between January 9 and 10 with the face of a dog, with two opposing lists: the one that leads Edmundo Bal, who has been joined by a group critical of the current leadership, and the one endorsed by Inés Arrimadas, in which she is “symbolic” in last place together with the deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, while giving up first position and all the leading role to MEP Adrián Vázquez and the Balearic leader, Patricia Guasp. A whole “ruse” in the opinion of the one who was her faithful squire until a few days ago, who accuses her of trying to continue controlling the threads through “the back door.”
