COURSE OBJECTIVES
The formulation of indicators is a fundamental element for the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems in public management, since they generate the necessary information to account for the performance of the different levels in the State administration.
Performance indicators are a transversal component in all stages of the public management cycle, since they arise from the diagnoses of the planning processes, they are used in the definition of goals, and they are a fundamental part of monitoring the implementation of policies. public, and are used in the ex post evaluation process, generating relevant information for feedback throughout the cycle.
The general objective of the course is for the student to acquire the skills to design and elaborate performance indicators, as a tool for the planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation systems of public management.
The specific objectives are: 1) Introduce students to the conceptual framework of public management and the role of management indicators; 2) Know the constituent elements of the indicators; 3) Know the different types of indicators and their use; and 4) Exercise in practical cases for the construction of performance indicators.
COURSE METHODOLOGY
The course will be developed in a mixed modality, mostly asynchronous, with some synchronous sessions, between April 3 and 30, 2022.
The course is structured in 4 Modules, each of them lasting 1 week, adding a total of 12 Learning Units, with an approximate dedication of 10 hours per module.

The asynchronous component of the course will be developed through a Moodle platform, where there are learning units developed in a Digital Learning Object (ODA), a pedagogical resource that each participant must carry out in a self-instructional modality and where the students They will be able to see the contents virtually in a multimedia and interactive format. Each of these modules has a class recorded by the course teacher.
In a complementary way, online (synchronous) classes will be held via Teams, for each of the modules, in order to reinforce knowledge and clarify doubts. These classes will be held on the respective Mondays of each week, at 4:00 p.m. From Chile.
For each of the four modules, the students will be asked to carry out an individual task, consisting of a practical exercise where the participants have the opportunity to apply the course contents.
At the end of each of the modules, a formative evaluation will be carried out, through a self-applied questionnaire available on the course platform, with which concepts can be strengthened and the level of learning determined. This quiz will have a grade and its approval is mandatory to continue with the following units.
