Garamendi insists that the rent agreement has to be "a country pact"

July 8. () –

The president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi, insisted this Friday that the income pact has to be “a country pact”, led by the Government and accompanied by political parties and social agents .

Garamendi has assured that the employers remain seated at that table, but has pointed out that “there are several elements” that must be addressed, such as what is going to be done with the “excess taxes”.

The president of the employers’ association has also requested that at that income pact table “speak without complexes about pensions” to guarantee that “they are sustainable.”

“I think that when we talk about an income agreement it is not that the responsibility only depends on one party and we will see how we fit in,” he added.

Regarding a wage increase, the president of the CEOE has stated that “they have to be raised”, but without indexing it to inflation and by sectors, since “it cannot be done in general”.

Garamendi has also pointed out that the employers are not opposed to sitting down at dialogue tables, since they have closed “14 or 15 agreements in these years”, but they want to talk “with figures and data”.
