The most successful virtual reality glasses from Meta (Facebook), the Oculus Quest 2 or Meta Quest 2have received a new update which increases the operating frequency of the Adreno GPU present in its Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 SoC.
Specifically, the 490 MHz clock speed at which the GPU of the SoC of the virtual reality glasses worked has been increased to 525 MHz, a 7% overclock that will allow the glasses to move new games and applications with high graphics load more fluidly, leaving developers a little more leeway when developing titles that run natively on Meta Quest 2.
At the moment it is a temporary change introduced in the V47 version and it is not very polished, since it is required that after running a game, we take off and put on the glasses to be able to apply this improvement. Hopefully the next update will fix this bug.
It is not the first time that an update improves the performance of these glasses, we must not forget that the Quest 2 have been gaining refresh rates in their lenses with successive updates until reaching 120 Hz. Initially, they arrived with 72 Hz and were later updated at 90 Hz and, finally, at the aforementioned 120 Hz.
