youtube shorts celebrates one year offering its service in Spain, an anniversary that Google has wanted to celebrate with new features aimed at content creators and focused on the ‘remixing’ of videos.
Shorts is an experience of short vertical videos integrated into YouTube that began to be tested at the end of 2020 in some countries such as India and the United States and that arrived in Spain with a beta version in July of last year.
Focusing on “short video as a new paradigm”, the company announced that it was seeking with this feature to offer an interconnected service with the rest of the ecosystem of Youtube Y Youtube music.
On the occasion of the first anniversary of its launch, YouTube has organized a virtual meeting with the presswhere he has shared some figures recorded in this year of activity.
As explained by the company, YouTube Shorts has generated a global community made up of more than 1.5 billion users who connect monthly to the platform, in which there are 30 million daily views.
This approach is producing tangible results for both creators and artists. This is revealed by recent data recorded by the platform, which indicates that short videos with content extracted from long-term videos generated more than 100 billion views.
Specifically, the director and head of relations with record labels in the United States of YouTube, Kathy Baker, wanted to highlight how, since the launch of Shorts, the channels of content creators that have uploaded both short videos and content in longer formats register best results.
These materialize in greater overall viewing time by viewers and more subscribers on these channels, compared to those that are limited to long formats.
To do this, he has given the example of the plastic artist Temi Danso, and the bloggers Max Klymenko and Rick Azas, who have managed to improve the results of their channels and gain new followers as a result of using Shorts.
To continue growing and innovating in the publishing section, the company has announced that it has introduced new features aimed at these content creators and focused on the ‘remixing’ of videos.
Among some of these novelties, available for devices with iOS operating system and coming soon on androidthere is the ‘Cut’ option.
With this tool, a 1-5 second video clip from any eligible VOD or Short video can be used to create new content in this short video section.
Another of the new features of YouTube Shorts is the green screen mode. With it, content creators will be able to use a video clip of up to 60 seconds from any eligible VOD or Short Video as the background of an original short video.
It is worth remembering that just two months ago, YouTube introduced a new function for Shorts with which iOS users could include a few seconds clip in any eligible video on the platform in your own creation.
Finally, from YouTube they have indicated that it continues with the evolution of its deep analysis tools thanks to YouTube Analytics. It is a tool that allows creators and artists to consult specific content performance data information in all formats: VOD, Live and Shorts.
In this way, they have the opportunity to individualize and optimize their content strategies in a more effective way, fully exploiting the possibilities of the platform in terms of reach and income.
