The United States Treasury Department announced this Thursday that it has imposed sanctions against a dozen Russian entities linked to the naval technology sector, a measure that is once again part of the US government’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department has indicated in a statement that among the entities are Russian companies and research institutes, all of them related to said sector.
For its part, the State Department of the North American country has indicated in a statement that these actions “represent a serious cost for the Russian ‘establishment’ linked to defense issues” and has asserted that the measure has been taken in response to the “war unjustified attack by (Vladimir) Putin against Ukraine”.
These entities include the manufacturer of lithium batteries Rigel, the manufacturer of communication and navigation systems Elektropribor, one of the main suppliers of automated systems for ships and submarines, Avrora, as well as the Prometey institute and an oceanographic center, among other.
