Battlefield 1942 was the first title in the saga Battlefield. Launched in 2002, 20 years ago now, It was set in the Second World War and featured numerous mods such as the Desert Combat that changed the setting to the current world for example.
Now, after those 20 years, a new mod brings the game back to the fore and it is none other than the addition of RTX raytracing technology thanks to the RTX Remix files that NVIDIA and Valve have released with the new RTX Portal.
In fact, in addition to Battlefield 1942some of its most famous mods such as the aforementioned Desert Combat or Vietnam, have been able to be “remastered” in a more or less simple way based on the RTX remix files of Valve’s Portal.
In the demo video you have shown a Modder on Reddit You can see how the texture effects, light effects and reflections are applied without problems, showing graphics that are much more advanced and realistic than those of the original game in 2002.
We may see new ports of the Portal RTX Remix in more games as the user community tries to port it to more legendary games.
