Sánchez denounces a "interference" in the Legislative Branch and that the "issue" is that the PP does not recognize the results

“What has happened is an interference from another power in the Legislature.” That is the diagnosis that Pedro Sánchez has made in Congress of the decision of the Constitutional Court to paralyze the processing of the reform with which PSOE, Unidas Podemos, and the majority that supports the coalition government, precisely intended to unblock the renewal of the guarantee court. An interference caused, according to Sánchez, because there is a “problem”: that the PP “does not recognize the electoral results.” That is what lies behind everything that has happened in recent weeks.

Sánchez: “The Government will adopt the necessary measures to put an end to the blockade of the Judicial and Constitutional Power”

“They have said that they would do whatever it takes and, in effect, they have gone too far, but in the opposite direction, in breach of the Constitution, blocking the renewal of important constitutional bodies. I ask you not to go any further, go back to the starting point, comply with the Constitution”, the president demanded of the PP spokesperson, Cuca Gamarra, during the government control session.

The number two de Alberto Núñez Feijóo has replied that “he only sees plots where there is legality.” “Your problem is that you believe that you are the State and the law and, fortunately, the rule of law works despite your attempts. Going for all was to give the rule of law a fight, and the rule of law has bent its arm, luckily for everyone”, Gamarra has reproached him, who has maintained that the socialists resemble Oriol Junqueras and Carles Puigdemont, comparing the attempt to renew the Constitutional with the disconnection laws approved in Catalonia during the process.

“It is evident that our democracy is perfectible”, Sánchez responded. “It is imperfect, it needs improvements and reforms”, the president has admitted in his response to the ERC spokesman, Gabriel Rufián, who has made clear the approach to the Government by showing himself willing to support legislative changes that are aimed at renewing the Constitutional and also the General Council of the Judiciary. Sánchez has left it in the hands of the parliamentary groups through a bill that the PSOE intends to register in the coming days.

“We told you that the next ones were going to be you”, Rufián began his question in the control session: “Welcome to the judicial war that was launched a few years ago against your exemplary democracy”. “The question we have to ask ourselves is: what now? Apart from complaining, what now? ”, Rufián has asked himself, who has assured that for a long time his group complained about a “misleading” interpretation of the Penal Code and that now it has rolled up its sleeves in its changes.

The ERC spokesman has extended his hand to the Government: “You want to present a law that recovers the knocked-down amendments, do it; we will be there. If you want to dignify the Constitutional Court, do it; we will be there. You want to dignify the Judiciary, do it; we will be there. The difference between you and us is that we won’t let you down. We will do it to dignify democracy. Before we are independentists, we are democrats ”, he has sentenced.

“I like to hear from your group that democracy is based on popular sovereignty and democratic legality”, the president replied: We can defend the measures we want, but within the constitutional framework”. ”What we are doing has nothing to do with what happened in Catalonia. You violated the Constitution. We want the Constitution to be complied with”, he replied to the Junts spokesperson, Miriam Nogueras, to whom she reminded that the phrase that “process It’s over,” the pro-independence leader Jordi Sànchez told her before him. .

Gamarra, before Feijóo

Sánchez faces two control sessions this Wednesday. In the first, that of Congress, Gamarra has warned him that “the PP does not allow itself to be intimidated” and that “it will continue to defend legality and the general interest.” But the president has called on the main opposition party to redirect his behavior. “Don’t go any further,” Sánchez told him: “Go back to the starting point and comply with the Constitution.”

The face to face de Sánchez with the general secretary of the PP is the prelude to the second control session of the day, this afternoon in the Senate and where the president will debate with Feijóo, who yesterday already stated that he has no intention of unblocking the renewal of the Judiciary that He launched his party in 2018.

The PP leader intends to maintain the situation until the end of the legislature unless Sánchez makes a total challenge to his mandate and assumes the positions of maximum of the right. Something that the Government does not seem to be willing to do.
